CherryTomato 0.5 Is Out

CherryTomato version 0.5 is now out.

In terms of features, this is a small release. But in terms of internal architecture, lots have changed. This is the first release after it was open sourced. Most of this release was contributed by Kore Sar – many thanks!
Some of the changes that you will notice are in the evaluation dialog – you can select the tasks that you consider productive and have a suggested rating from that (along with an indication of when during the 25 minutes this took place).
The reminders system has been developed quite a bit – you can now add an “after pomodoro reminder” that will always remind you after x minutes. Though there aren’t many other features yet, the system is quite extendable so you can expect more reminder types and features in the future.

Also, included in this version is a plugin for this USB lamp that will go red when you are in pomodoro. Works great if the person next to you doesn’t have you on Skype and doesn’t know if it’s safe to disturb you 🙂

    Hi Krisitian,
Thank-you for this freeware. I have experienced a couple of problems –

    1. I went into settings to add sounds for the reminder to return to Pomodoro but nothing happens when the break time ends.

    2. More importantly, if I have used Cherrytomato during a day when the time comes to shut down my computer (Windows XP), even though Cherrytomato is exited, I can’t shut down my computer.

Is there anything you can do about this? Any suggestions?

as for #1, have you tried clicking the button on the evaluation dialog that appears as well? I think that works. I am not quite sure about the one you can set from the settings.

#2 is a known problem. It has not been fixed in the current version I’m afraid, and although I am working on a new version I am not going to get anybody’s hopes up with a release because it’s now at least a year later than I though it would be and I still just have it running on my mac as well as on Windows, but with no installer and a few bugs still so it could be quite a while still.

If you are a programmer you can of course check the code out yourself and try and fix the problems. Sorry that I can’t offer you a better reply at this time.
